Christmas in July

As much as I hate to bring this up, we are only about 5 1/2 months from Christmas. To help you get motivated everything Christmas is 25% off from July 13th to the 18th. That includes all cross stitch, needlepoint and hardanger that is in stock.  We will be more than happy to order other items but they will not be included in the sale.

The website has been updated with the newest items in the shop.

Today was our all day stitch and there was a full house.  I think that I like these days the best.  I love being able to spend time getting to know all of you better. Sometimes when my friends come into the shop it is for a brief stop so there isn't enough time to talk about families and other important items in our life.  If you are in the area  you can always stop and stitch as the table is always open.

What are you stitching?  I hate to admit this but I haven't had much of a chance to stitch lately.  I have had to make two spur of the moment trips to Charlotte, NC in the past 6 weeks. It was nice to go but there was no time  to stitch and then when I got home it was time to catch up.  I hope this week will change that.  I was able to spend some guilty time with my son and grandchildren.  That makes it all worth while.

All that being said I am going to cut this short so I can do some stitching tonight.

Happy Stitching,

More and More Needlepoint Canvases

We have been receiving more and more needlepoint canvases from the show that we went to in January.  It is much like Christmas around here.  I love it when the UPS, USPS and FedEx delivery trucks show up.  Everyone gathers around to see what surprises are in store when the boxes are opened.

Just a quick thought!  What are you stitching?  Personally I am working on another stocking for one of my granddaughters, a sampler and gathering threads for the Harvest Canvas that is being taught by Sandy Arthur of Duo Designs.  Please reply to this post with some of your pictures.  We love to see what others are stitching.  Here are the ones I have in progress.  The stocking is from Liz and the sampler is from Nouveau Encore Designs.  Without going to far, of course there are many others that are WIPS but I really don't want to admit to how many, so please don't ask.

With summer upon us I want to take a moment to remind you of the deadline dates for finishing for Christmas is October 1st.  It sounds like a long way off but in a blink of an eye it will be here.  I don't want any of you to miss out on getting your things done so I will just keep bugging you with reminders.

We will be receiving our Just Cross Stitch Halloween Edition soon.  To make sure that you don't miss out give us a call to reserve yours.

We are looking into ordering a new (at least new to us) called Silk Road Fiber.  It looks like raffea but is made from silk.  We are also looking at the Planet Earth Fibers from Pepper Pot Silk.  I have stitched with this fiber and absolutely love it.

With the 4th of July just around the corner, I hope that you have some fun plans for this wonderful holiday.  My family and I will be staying home and I plan on doing lots of stitching.  We will be closed on the 4th and 5th.  Then on the 11th we will be here for our "All Day Stitch".

So for now keep stitching and enjoying yourself.  I know that is the best time for me when I am stitching or playing with me furry kids.

                                                  Happy Stitching,

                                  Vicki

Red Nose Day - Let's Help Fight Hunger and Poverty

Here is what Red Nose Day is all about.
The money raised during Red Nose Day will be used to fund programs that address the immediate needs of children and young people living in poverty in the U.S. and internationally in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The money will be split between domestic and international poverty issues. The pre-selected charity partners are Boys & Girls Clubs of America; charity: water; Children's Health Fund; Feeding America; Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance; the Global Fund; Lift; National Council of La Raza; National Urban League; Oxfam America; Save the Children and United Way.

In the U.K., Red Nose Day has been a tradition for 30 years and is an inspiring cultural phenomenon that unites people from all walks of life in the interest of saving and changing lives across the globe. With superstar presenters and comedians, original sketch comedy, hilarious film parodies and amazing musical performances, Red Nose Day has been one of the BBC's highest-rated Friday night shows for many years and raised more than $1 billion in donations so far for organizations addressing poverty.

We're teaming up with NBC to raise money and change thousands of lives. Red Nose Day's inaugural three-hour entertainment TV special on May 21st, 2015.  I have decided to take part in the Red Nose Day to help fight hunger and poverty in the US.  Here at Stitcher's Treasures we will take 15% of what ever you purchase from Monday, May 11th to Thursday, May 21st and we will donate that amount to this worthwhile cause from our caring stitchers.

Just Clowning Around
Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Flowers for Beauty

Here in California our governing officials have decided to put us on water rationing and we can't water our grass or gardens to maintain them the way they should be.  I have decided that to give us a chance to have some beauty in our spring and summer months, we need to be stitching flowers. Soooooooooooooooo that means anything in the shop that has flowers on it is on sale for 35% off, starting on Saturday, May 2nd to Saturday, May 9th. Now is the time to stock up and enjoy the beauty that you can give to these floral designs.

There are many new canvases still coming in from the show and what fun we have been having with them.  I personally have been working on the Hanukkah pieces.  They certainly are coming out nice and are a quick-fun stitch.  I have also been working on a piece that was offered as a class through the San Diego ANG group called Walking the Water's Edge.  I have included a picture of the ones that I am working on.  You can post to our Facebook page your WIPS.  We love to see what everyone is stitching.

These are the pieces I am working on while I am in the shop and I have a cross stitch sampler that I am working on at home, when there is time.

There are new designs by My Big Toe Designs and From Nancy's Needle.  You can see them on the web page we have for them.  These two and a few others up on the What's New Page in the next couple of days.  We are trying to update the web page as quickly as possible.

Dorothy will be teaching the Butterfly Effect on May 30th. You can see all about it on the class page.  While you are there don't forget about the Halloween Train that Nancy is teaching. You can jump on board that ride anytime you would like.  I will be teaching the Blue Carnation Bargello pillow on June 6th.  You can see the picture of my finished piece on the class page also.

There is going to be an online needlework show being sponsored by Norden Crafts in August. It should be fun as you will be able to see the same items that I see and order through me. They have promised to have many specials and limited edition items.  I will keep you posted on the upcoming event but make sure you save a date between August 10 and 19th to spend sometime enjoying this event.

So back to stitching and making a dent it what I have to do.  I am sure you all understand that.

Happy Stitching,

Happy Easter, Passover and Spring

This time of year is special to so many of us with the Religious Observance of Passover and Easter.  No matter which one you observe or even if you don't observe either, it is a renewing of the earth and a time for fresh beginnings in nature and the world.  The flowers are all blooming after a time of sleep and so beautiful to look at.  It seems as if just a few days ago nature was still resting and here just a short time later I am seeing flowers and blooms on so many plants and shrubs.  Because of this, we will be closed on Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm.

The shop is also blooming in canvases from the show and it is a surprise everyday to see what is arriving.  Just this week Raymond Crawford and Alexa Needlepoint arrived.  Reference books from Ruth Schmuff and Janice McGuire arrived.  Also the Thread Reference Guide by Jane Evans and Liv Weiss.  After looking at these books I have kept a complete set for myself.  They are going to be invaluable for those of you who love to do decorative stitches and use threads for embellishment and texture.
Many of the new canvases are Halloween and Christmas 'cause you need to think about getting started if you want it done for the 2015 celebration.

Classes are being set up for the next few months and will be posted.  For a quick overview, Nancy will be continuing with the Halloween Train and other items she has taught in the past.   Dorothy will be teaching the Butterfly Effect from Threedles, a study in textures on design.  Here is a picture of her work in progress and the one from the designer.

The colors can be set up to fit you.  There  are three options by the designer, Dorothy's colorway and yours.  The options are unlimited and we will be more than happy to help you pick the colorway of your choice.

To help you expedite you time through the website here we have updated the New Arrivals page with the newest canvases and books that have arrived.

Remember that there is never a time that is not good to stitch.  Take some time for yourself and enjoy you hobby.

                                                                         Happy Stitching,
                                                                                           Vicki

Strictly Christmas, Dream House Ventures, Labors of Love, etc.

It has been like Christmas around here with packages arriving from the show.  We are updating the web page a quickly as we can with the new canvases.  I am including some picture here for you.

Dream House Ventures

Danji

We had the first class of the Halloween Train last Saturday and here are a few pictures.

Dorothy will be teaching the Jean Hilton Puzzle Purse.  If you have a hankering to see a beautiful piece make sure you stop by.  Even if you don't want to stitch it as a purse there are several other ways it can be done.  You can see the pictures on the web site, but they are so much prettier in person.

I will be teaching a Bargello piece which has been pictured on the class page, but I just got the finished piece back so we updated the picture.  I have it finished as a bolster pillow.  So I will be checking the calendar to set a date for the class.  Nancy will continue to be teaching the Halloween Train over the next several months.  Remember though that she is a very talented teacher and can also help anyone with other projects, so bring them to class.

                                                 Happy Stitching,

                                                                   Vicki

My Personal Hell Week

Things have been really hopping in the shop.  Lots of new needlepoint canvases are arriving.   This week we received Whimsy and Grace and The Artists Collection.  The pictures are all up on the web site.

I have been stitching on the Hanukkah Club pieces.   I have the first one just about finished.  I did finish the Patchwork of Peace Flag.  With The Artists Collection arriving today I have the first three pieces of the Seasonal Basket Club pieces to start working on.  I guess I have my work cut out for me.  Isn't that the way, finish one and replace it with 3 new one.  Oh well, but how I love it, stitch, stitch, stitch.

This Saturday is our all day Stitch and a fun day for all the attendees.  The Halloween Train by Raymond Crawford will be starting next Saturday and the following Saturday is the Puzzle Purse.

There has been a price change on many of the cross stitch fabrics and we are working on getting the web site updated with the new prices. If you have a question please call so we can give you the correct price.

On a more personal note, I have had a very busy this week with my dogs. As most of you know I have, Rough Collies (Lassie dogs).  For years it has been my dream to breed them.  So in the past four years I have acquired a male, Rusty and female Reba.  It came time for breeding and decisions had to be made if to breed the two I have or bring in another line.  After much discussion with people that have more experience  I decided to bring in another line.  So last weekend Jerry and I drove 2 hours to pick up the other male.  In order to have some sanity, whatever that is my house, I sent Rusty on a doggy vacation.  After a week of getting Reba and the stud mated I had to bring Rusty home to get him ready to show this weekend.  So he came home this morning and now I have to try and keep male dogs apart and a female in hiding.  What fun this has been. Actually it hasn't been that bad, just a series of making plans without knowing what to expect.  So far so good and we should know if there will be puppies coming in about 4 weeks.

Well I am off to bed as I have an early morning tomorrow getting Rusty ready for the show.  Thanks for reading (listening),

Happy Stitching,
