Sad New and Thanksgiving Wishes

There is no easy way to say this but to spit out.  I lost the love of my life, my best friend and my love, Jerry on November 13th.  My world to say the least has been turned upside down.  After 46 1/2 years I am the lone decision maker.  I am thankful in the peace that God has given me.  I know that Jerry is in heaven and no longer in pain and able to do all the things that he hadn't been able to do the last few years.
So with that being said there are so many things to be thankful for, to numerous to count.  I wish for all of you to have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I wish you love and just want to remind all of you that it is never to soon to mend broken relationships and not to forget to tell the ones you love that you love them.  You will never know when it is too late.

    Happy Stitching,

Upcoming Events & Fun Things Afoot!

I have been having fun getting the shop decorated for Halloween.  Here are a few pictures so you can enjoy since you might not be able to visit.

I hope I am not jumping the gun, but I wanted to let you know of the upcoming events that we are panning..
  1. Halloween Pot Luck - This is a normal stitch day for us so let's make it fun.  If you will be coming to stitch with us please let me know if you will be participating.  We would love to have all the bases covered so if you could let us know that you plan on bringing that would be great.  For those of you what can't come and join us you can join in on the fun.  We will have all Halloween charts and canvases on sale for 20% off
  2. Thanksgiving we stitch and eat on both Friday and Saturday. We all bring left overs and just have fun.  For those of you who remember that was our Alex weekend.   Sadly we don't have that special time with our friend/teacher but we hold onto those special memories.  But a happy note for me it is my birthday.  So I guess that equals some of it out
  3. We will be having a Christmas party at the shop, December 12th, details to be announced.
  4. January 23rd & 24th we will be have a special event, so mark your calendar.  I will be releasing more information as we get all the details worked out.
The new Just Nan pieces should be arriving next week.  Here are the pictures.

If you want one call and get added to the list, you don't  miss out.  The Reindeer Mouse is a limited edition.  What cute ornaments these would make on your Christmas tree.

Happy Stitching.

And it Goes On and On

I have been gone several times since May and there is a good reason that I really don't wan to have to explain.  But this time, I am going away for a fun trip that has been planned for just about a year.  Two of my friends/clients are going to France to take a class from Alessandra Adelaide.  This is going to be a dream trip and I want to take my husband, Jerry, for agreeing to my going and also the ladies, Beth, Ginia and Maura for holding the shop down while I am gone.

There will be a special Stitch Day this Saturday.  They, the ladies, have named it "We don't get to go to France" stitch day.  So that you all can have some fun also, everything in the shop will be on sale for 25% off.  The dates will be from September 17th to the 29th.  That will give you plenty of time to find what you want. This does not included any previous marked down items or other discounts and only includes items that are in stock.   Email orders are accepted.  Please email beth@stitcherstreasures.com .

I will be posting to Facebook with some of the fun things that we will be doing with Alessandra.  So check out the pictures and fun things that Leslie, Pamela and I will be doing.  Wish all of you were going with us.  Wouldn't that be fun!

I just heard from the distributor of the Sampler and Antique Needlework Magazine and they are discontinuing it but will be bringing it back in a different format after the firs of the year.  They do have available the previous magazines in DVD form.  Let me know if you are interested it one of those and I can order them for you.

Happy Stitching,

New Arrivals!

We will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7th to celebrate Labor Day.  The girls will be stitching n Saturday.  If you want some relaxation this weekend come on by.

The Fall 2015 edition of Sampler and Antique Needlework Magazine and the second part of the new Lizzie Kate Little Mystery Sampler has arrived.  Coming soon will be the new Just Nan pieces. All of theses can been seen on the New Arrivals  page on the web site.  I am including some pictures for you. We have also updated the Works in Progress Page with lots of wonderful pieces that our friends are working on.

I received an email from the distributor of Sampler & Antique Needlework News that the Aug 2015 issue would be the last one.  There were very little details but she did say they were going to incorporate some the same types of articles in the Just Cross Stitch Magazine.  I am not sure what is going on yet but will keep you updated.

I hate having to tell you this since our weather has been so hot and I know that I have not felt much like stitching, but . . . Finishing for Christmas deadlines for ornaments and stand-ups are October 1st, and stockings and pillows are October 15th.  So get busy everyone that is just a little more than a month away.

On Line Show Presented by Norden Crafts!

We are so lucky to have a distributor like Norden Crafts.  There is usually a Needlework Show in the fall for Cross Stitchers.  Well this year it was cancelled so Norden Crafts stepped up to the plate and organized a Online Needlework Show. The Show is August 10th to the 19th.  I will be updating you as I get more information.  I have seen many of  the designs that are coming and they are wonderful.

In the shop - lots of 4th of July, Summer, Halloween and Christmas items have been arriving!

These are the Bewitching Pixies by Nora Corbett.  They are all under 10" x 10" and there are bead kits available for all of them.  And then the newest one from Mirabilia is The Raven Queen.

     .

As many of you may already know, the Prairie Schooler has announced that they will be retiring in early 2016.  This will be a big loss to the Cross Stitch industry.  They have been designing and providing us with wonderful designs for 32 years.  As much as they are going to be missed I wish them a wonderful retirement and many years of happiness. There are several new designs available right now so if you are a fan you won't want to miss out on these.  Here are the pictures.

I personally am in Charlotte, NC helping my son.  I will be back on August 5th in time for the Online Show.  The weather here is very hot and humid,  but everything is green.  The other night we were out walking and I smelled fresh cut grass.  Boy it has been a while since I have smelled that because my lawn is almost nonexistent because of the drought at home.  So I guess you can't have everything.  I just thank God that we have what we have and that we need to learn to be happy with what we have as it could always be worse.

Well I am off for now.  Tomorrow I am going to the Needlepoint Store in Charlotte.  Can't miss that.

                                                                                            Happy Stitching,

                                                                                                        Vicki

Christmas in July

As much as I hate to bring this up, we are only about 5 1/2 months from Christmas. To help you get motivated everything Christmas is 25% off from July 13th to the 18th. That includes all cross stitch, needlepoint and hardanger that is in stock.  We will be more than happy to order other items but they will not be included in the sale.

The website has been updated with the newest items in the shop.

Today was our all day stitch and there was a full house.  I think that I like these days the best.  I love being able to spend time getting to know all of you better. Sometimes when my friends come into the shop it is for a brief stop so there isn't enough time to talk about families and other important items in our life.  If you are in the area  you can always stop and stitch as the table is always open.

What are you stitching?  I hate to admit this but I haven't had much of a chance to stitch lately.  I have had to make two spur of the moment trips to Charlotte, NC in the past 6 weeks. It was nice to go but there was no time  to stitch and then when I got home it was time to catch up.  I hope this week will change that.  I was able to spend some guilty time with my son and grandchildren.  That makes it all worth while.

All that being said I am going to cut this short so I can do some stitching tonight.

Happy Stitching,

Vicki

More and More Needlepoint Canvases

We have been receiving more and more needlepoint canvases from the show that we went to in January.  It is much like Christmas around here.  I love it when the UPS, USPS and FedEx delivery trucks show up.  Everyone gathers around to see what surprises are in store when the boxes are opened.

Just a quick thought!  What are you stitching?  Personally I am working on another stocking for one of my granddaughters, a sampler and gathering threads for the Harvest Canvas that is being taught by Sandy Arthur of Duo Designs.  Please reply to this post with some of your pictures.  We love to see what others are stitching.  Here are the ones I have in progress.  The stocking is from Liz and the sampler is from Nouveau Encore Designs.  Without going to far, of course there are many others that are WIPS but I really don't want to admit to how many, so please don't ask.

With summer upon us I want to take a moment to remind you of the deadline dates for finishing for Christmas is October 1st.  It sounds like a long way off but in a blink of an eye it will be here.  I don't want any of you to miss out on getting your things done so I will just keep bugging you with reminders.

We will be receiving our Just Cross Stitch Halloween Edition soon.  To make sure that you don't miss out give us a call to reserve yours.

We are looking into ordering a new (at least new to us) called Silk Road Fiber.  It looks like raffea but is made from silk.  We are also looking at the Planet Earth Fibers from Pepper Pot Silk.  I have stitched with this fiber and absolutely love it.

With the 4th of July just around the corner, I hope that you have some fun plans for this wonderful holiday.  My family and I will be staying home and I plan on doing lots of stitching.  We will be closed on the 4th and 5th.  Then on the 11th we will be here for our "All Day Stitch".

So for now keep stitching and enjoying yourself.  I know that is the best time for me when I am stitching or playing with me furry kids.

                                                  Happy Stitching,

                                  Vicki

Red Nose Day - Let's Help Fight Hunger and Poverty

Here is what Red Nose Day is all about.
The money raised during Red Nose Day will be used to fund programs that address the immediate needs of children and young people living in poverty in the U.S. and internationally in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The money will be split between domestic and international poverty issues. The pre-selected charity partners are Boys & Girls Clubs of America; charity: water; Children's Health Fund; Feeding America; Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance; the Global Fund; Lift; National Council of La Raza; National Urban League; Oxfam America; Save the Children and United Way.

In the U.K., Red Nose Day has been a tradition for 30 years and is an inspiring cultural phenomenon that unites people from all walks of life in the interest of saving and changing lives across the globe. With superstar presenters and comedians, original sketch comedy, hilarious film parodies and amazing musical performances, Red Nose Day has been one of the BBC's highest-rated Friday night shows for many years and raised more than $1 billion in donations so far for organizations addressing poverty.

We're teaming up with NBC to raise money and change thousands of lives. Red Nose Day's inaugural three-hour entertainment TV special on May 21st, 2015.  I have decided to take part in the Red Nose Day to help fight hunger and poverty in the US.  Here at Stitcher's Treasures we will take 15% of what ever you purchase from Monday, May 11th to Thursday, May 21st and we will donate that amount to this worthwhile cause from our caring stitchers.

Just Clowning Around
Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Flowers for Beauty

Here in California our governing officials have decided to put us on water rationing and we can't water our grass or gardens to maintain them the way they should be.  I have decided that to give us a chance to have some beauty in our spring and summer months, we need to be stitching flowers. Soooooooooooooooo that means anything in the shop that has flowers on it is on sale for 35% off, starting on Saturday, May 2nd to Saturday, May 9th. Now is the time to stock up and enjoy the beauty that you can give to these floral designs.

There are many new canvases still coming in from the show and what fun we have been having with them.  I personally have been working on the Hanukkah pieces.  They certainly are coming out nice and are a quick-fun stitch.  I have also been working on a piece that was offered as a class through the San Diego ANG group called Walking the Water's Edge.  I have included a picture of the ones that I am working on.  You can post to our Facebook page your WIPS.  We love to see what everyone is stitching.

These are the pieces I am working on while I am in the shop and I have a cross stitch sampler that I am working on at home, when there is time.

There are new designs by My Big Toe Designs and From Nancy's Needle.  You can see them on the web page we have for them.  These two and a few others up on the What's New Page in the next couple of days.  We are trying to update the web page as quickly as possible.

Dorothy will be teaching the Butterfly Effect on May 30th. You can see all about it on the class page.  While you are there don't forget about the Halloween Train that Nancy is teaching. You can jump on board that ride anytime you would like.  I will be teaching the Blue Carnation Bargello pillow on June 6th.  You can see the picture of my finished piece on the class page also.

There is going to be an online needlework show being sponsored by Norden Crafts in August. It should be fun as you will be able to see the same items that I see and order through me. They have promised to have many specials and limited edition items.  I will keep you posted on the upcoming event but make sure you save a date between August 10 and 19th to spend sometime enjoying this event.

So back to stitching and making a dent it what I have to do.  I am sure you all understand that.

Happy Stitching,

Vicki

Happy Easter, Passover and Spring

This time of year is special to so many of us with the Religious Observance of Passover and Easter.  No matter which one you observe or even if you don't observe either, it is a renewing of the earth and a time for fresh beginnings in nature and the world.  The flowers are all blooming after a time of sleep and so beautiful to look at.  It seems as if just a few days ago nature was still resting and here just a short time later I am seeing flowers and blooms on so many plants and shrubs.  Because of this, we will be closed on Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm.

The shop is also blooming in canvases from the show and it is a surprise everyday to see what is arriving.  Just this week Raymond Crawford and Alexa Needlepoint arrived.  Reference books from Ruth Schmuff and Janice McGuire arrived.  Also the Thread Reference Guide by Jane Evans and Liv Weiss.  After looking at these books I have kept a complete set for myself.  They are going to be invaluable for those of you who love to do decorative stitches and use threads for embellishment and texture.
Many of the new canvases are Halloween and Christmas 'cause you need to think about getting started if you want it done for the 2015 celebration.

Classes are being set up for the next few months and will be posted.  For a quick overview, Nancy will be continuing with the Halloween Train and other items she has taught in the past.   Dorothy will be teaching the Butterfly Effect from Threedles, a study in textures on design.  Here is a picture of her work in progress and the one from the designer.

The colors can be set up to fit you.  There  are three options by the designer, Dorothy's colorway and yours.  The options are unlimited and we will be more than happy to help you pick the colorway of your choice.

To help you expedite you time through the website here we have updated the New Arrivals page with the newest canvases and books that have arrived.

Remember that there is never a time that is not good to stitch.  Take some time for yourself and enjoy you hobby.

                                                                         Happy Stitching,
                                                                                           Vicki

Strictly Christmas, Dream House Ventures, Labors of Love, etc.

It has been like Christmas around here with packages arriving from the show.  We are updating the web page a quickly as we can with the new canvases.  I am including some picture here for you.

Dream House Ventures

We had the first class of the Halloween Train last Saturday and here are a few pictures.

Dorothy will be teaching the Jean Hilton Puzzle Purse.  If you have a hankering to see a beautiful piece make sure you stop by.  Even if you don't want to stitch it as a purse there are several other ways it can be done.  You can see the pictures on the web site, but they are so much prettier in person.

I will be teaching a Bargello piece which has been pictured on the class page, but I just got the finished piece back so we updated the picture.  I have it finished as a bolster pillow.  So I will be checking the calendar to set a date for the class.  Nancy will continue to be teaching the Halloween Train over the next several months.  Remember though that she is a very talented teacher and can also help anyone with other projects, so bring them to class.

                                                 Happy Stitching,

                                                                   Vicki

My Personal Hell Week

Things have been really hopping in the shop.  Lots of new needlepoint canvases are arriving.   This week we received Whimsy and Grace and The Artists Collection.  The pictures are all up on the web site.

I have been stitching on the Hanukkah Club pieces.   I have the first one just about finished.  I did finish the Patchwork of Peace Flag.  With The Artists Collection arriving today I have the first three pieces of the Seasonal Basket Club pieces to start working on.  I guess I have my work cut out for me.  Isn't that the way, finish one and replace it with 3 new one.  Oh well, but how I love it, stitch, stitch, stitch.

This Saturday is our all day Stitch and a fun day for all the attendees.  The Halloween Train by Raymond Crawford will be starting next Saturday and the following Saturday is the Puzzle Purse.

There has been a price change on many of the cross stitch fabrics and we are working on getting the web site updated with the new prices. If you have a question please call so we can give you the correct price.

On a more personal note, I have had a very busy this week with my dogs. As most of you know I have, Rough Collies (Lassie dogs).  For years it has been my dream to breed them.  So in the past four years I have acquired a male, Rusty and female Reba.  It came time for breeding and decisions had to be made if to breed the two I have or bring in another line.  After much discussion with people that have more experience  I decided to bring in another line.  So last weekend Jerry and I drove 2 hours to pick up the other male.  In order to have some sanity, whatever that is my house, I sent Rusty on a doggy vacation.  After a week of getting Reba and the stud mated I had to bring Rusty home to get him ready to show this weekend.  So he came home this morning and now I have to try and keep male dogs apart and a female in hiding.  What fun this has been. Actually it hasn't been that bad, just a series of making plans without knowing what to expect.  So far so good and we should know if there will be puppies coming in about 4 weeks.

Well I am off to bed as I have an early morning tomorrow getting Rusty ready for the show.  Thanks for reading (listening),

Happy Stitching,

News from Stitcher's Treasures

I am sorry to say that I cannot attend  the Nashville Market.  I had originally planned on attending but a family illnesses has thrown a wrench into the works.  I will be ordering new products once the show closes and they let the non attendees have some fun!

The needlepoint canvases and accessories from the Phoenix show are arriving now and we have rearranged all the needlepoint boards to accommodate them.  Here is a picture of the first board which we have affectionately named our "attitude board".

Oh yippee! The UPS man just arrived and the Dovo Scissors are here.  I have a weakness for scissors.  Thank God I didn't order any for myself.

We have a new cabinet in the shop that has glass doors on both sides.  Some of our models have found a new home in a new cabinet.  Come in and check it out.

The Whimsey and Grace order should be here next week.  They are wonderful 3 dimensional stars with beads so that you can use them as a stand up or a tree topper for your Christmas Tree. We also ordered the Gingerbread Men ~ such fun for a kitchen!

Here is the work in progress picture of the Patchwork of Peace that I have been trying to get finished.  Do you ever get so close to a finish and get so anxious that you just want it done?  Well that is where I am right now on this piece. Maybe by this weekend I can have it finished.

As for our classes, Dorothy will be here the end of March to teach the Puzzle Purse by Jean Hilton.  Of course, there are always color choices to be made and I have the thread list if you are signed up for the class.  You also have the choice of doing it as a purse or as a flat piece for framing or pillow.  The model of the flat piece is already in the shop and the purse should be here soon. Come by and take a look so you don't miss out on the class.   There is pre-stitching that needs to be done before the first class.  Here is a picture for you:

So I going to go now and get the scissors into the inventory and maybe try to get a bit of stitching on the flag.  Hope to see you soon,

Happy Stitching,

What's New At Stitcher's Treasures

I actually started this post last week and got bogged down with what to say.  This week I have no
problem.

First at 9:09 am our Granddaughter presented us with our first Great-Granddaughter.  Her name is Elayna and she weighed it at 4 lb 13 oz and is 18 inches long.  So the joy all those years with children has just tripled with the Great-Grandchild era.  I am not sure how I feel about it 'cause I don't feel old enough to be in this era.  I am elated to have a new gift from God in our family and I pray for the new family beginning their lives together.

We have had the good fortune of acquiring an abundance of canvases.  Most of them are up on the website for you to peruse.  They are from many different designers i.e. Melissa Shirley, Danji, Alexa, Associated Talents, etc. and some of  them are on the 50% sale page.  Time to take advantage of the fun canvases that we have.

I have also have decided to discontinue the Anchor #5 & #8 Pearl Cotton.  This was very difficult decision as I have always liked the Anchor fibers.  Since they decided to discontinue #12 and #3 and some of the colors in #8 and #5, I feel it is better to provide you all with the matching colors across all the sizes and I can do that with DMC.  So we are bringing in those in #3, #5, #8 and #12. It will take a bit of time to do all of that but if you come in and we don't have a color you want, we will order it and fill in the line as soon as we can.  We have already made a good dent into the collection!

The Second in the Hanukkah Series has arrived and we have one more spot open if you want to join the club.  The canvases are $55.00 per month for the next 7 months plus the first 2 that are already out. When finished you can also purchase an amazingly beautiful wooden Menorah with dowels for the finished needlepoints.  Here is a picture of the finished Menorah.

We will be starting on the Raymond Crawford Halloween Train on February 21st.  I am so looking forward to the start of this project.  Nancy has done a wonderful job on her rendition of  the project that was shown in the Needlepoint Now Magazine.  If you want to join us please let me know as I am in the process of ordering the threads and the remainder of the canvases needed.  It will be a fun class.

In March we will be offering the Puzzle Purse by Jean Hilton,  It can be done as a purse or as a flat piece that can be made into a picture or a pillow. Here is a picture of  the one done flat.  The purse model is still in the works.  So stay tuned.

We will be offering six seasonal baskets through The Artists Collection.  We are going to start this group the end of April with the summer basket.  It will be done every other month and that will give you the ability to finish it before the next season arrives.  They are small pieces and easy to complete.  Here is a link to the page that the information is on for this club: http://stitcherstreasures.com/mainpages/stitchers_sorority/seasonal_baskets.htm .

We have done some remodeling in the shop and added some trellis to help accommodate the additional canvas that are here and the others that will be arriving soon.

Well that is it for now.  Come by and see us soon.

Happy Stitching,

     Vicki
